Reading a paving solicitation fast

The unit-price schedule IS the bid: tonnage and square-yard quantities (your volume reality), milling depth, base repair allowances, MOT requirements (night work? lane rental?), and liquidated damages per day. The estimate band plus the quantity sheet tells you in ten minutes whether the job fits your plant access and crew math.

Seasonality and the fiscal-year surge

Local fiscal years end September 30 — watch July–September for use-it-or-lose-it packages — while the new year's programmed work bids October through spring. School lot work bids winter-spring for summer execution. Storm events spawn emergency repair and drainage terms year-round.
